TO BE THE GENERATION OF SEEKERS

TO BE THE GENERATION OF SEEKERS
AFTER GOD
by Daneille Gray Snowden [Always inspired by the Holy Spirit.]

This morning in my devotions (that usually turns into an all out Bible exposition); I was digging into Ps. 24:6 "This is the generation of them that seek Him, that seek thy face..."  Reading the entire chapter, my spirit was drawn to this vital need for all the church of Jesus Christ. THIS GENERATION; is referring to ALL... not just the children of Israel; but all who INDEED seek the Face of God...with PURENESS IN THEIR HEARTS AND LIFE (verse 4).

Remember that the author David, was known as a man after God's own heart, even though he failed many times: he would turn back in repentance and seek his God.

To God TRUE SEEKERS are held in high regard. Peering into the different aspects of seeking God, we learn that:
Seeking Him: sanctifies & influences (Jer. 33:2-3)       /       Seeking Him: (by communicating with Him) purifies. Leading us to purge ourselves of filth.  /  Seeking Him: Awakens our souls to seek Him above everything else.
___________________________

 Proverbs 8:17
"I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me."

To the Jewish people, to seek meant to be face to face with someone or thing. It was and is deliberate; eye to eye and heart to heart contact. In this verse it specifies this very attribute: "...seek Thy face..." In the Hebrew; Presence means 'face'. Seek His face...but also we FACE Him.
His Face: Is His personal character.
Psalm 27:8
"You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.”
____________________________

My friend to SEEK God is setting our minds and hearts on God, by fixing our attention plus affections toward Him.
In the Hebrew Seek is 'Darash' which means to enquire, require, resort to, frequent, demand, study, follow and sought.
Think on this; to pray and intercede is vital, and truly needed...BUT - to SEEK is what changes us; this is what draws us into a deeper realm with our Abba Father. As we SEEK... i.e. FACE our God, wow -- think of all that can transpire within and without our being.

Deuteronomy 4:29
"But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul."

HOW TO?
Jeremiah 29:13
"You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart."

What happens when we SEEK the presence of God?
1) When in need of direction  - He Shows light!
2) In weakness - He gives strength.
3) When troubled - His grace comes through His Presence.
4) Perplexed - His Presence places our heart at large...He stills and settles the heart & mind.

Jeremiah 29:12-14
"Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile."

As we all may know, by definition GENERATION means people born and living at the same time period. It averages around 30 years; from when we are born to adulthood when we have our own children.

In the Hebrew it is Toledoth: descendants & Dor: dwelling .
It occurs 137 x's in the Word of God (132x plural). In the Greek; it is Genea (a noun) a class that means 'who have been begotten'.

My favorite is from 1 Peter 2:9 when he speaks of the 'CHOSEN GENERATION': and the Greek definition for generation is genos which is kin, kindred all from the same stock!

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:"
_____________________________

When we SEEK our God; we do with all our hearts, soul and mind. He has our attention; there is nothing else to think or seek. He is it! Our minds; (called a Battlefield by many) can be troubling when we long to SEEK our Lord with our entire being; i.e. with our minds. Some days are more difficult than others seeking the Lord, as we become distracted with all sorts of matters troubling our minds. Yet, God is able as we are in total surrender to live for Him in all ways to BRING OUR THOUGHTS CAPTIVE. [2 Cor. 10:5]  What I wrote earlier, to SEEK God is setting our minds and hearts on God, by fixing our attention plus affections toward Him.
I Chron. 22:19a

"Now set your heart and your soul to seek (inquire of, require as your vital necessity) the Lord your God..."

 MY CHALLENGE TO YOU!
Let's BE THE GENERATION OF SEEKERS! The benefits far outweigh the means don't they? It  is laying it all down for the sake of KNOWING OUR GOD...resulting in having His amazing character to transmit into our lives.
In addition we will be able to live out a life with more power, peace, joy and strength plus be filled with knowledge from ON HIGH! And  I will draw it back around to: the NEXT GENERATION --- those who are following us will see JESUS  (our God) within our lives and they will know where we have been.
MY CHALLENGE? Be THE GENERATION OF SEEKERS today!

Matthew 6:33

Daniel Nash-Prayer Minister for Charles Finney

Prayer That Brings Heaven to Earth Part II

Written by: Daniel Kolenda

From D. Kolenda's book: Your Kingdom Come
Let this be our vision as prayer warriors. Read this story and be ultimately changed.
"The Divine Alliance

“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10

This Bible Study has been taken from Chapter VI of Daniel Kolenda’s new book “Your Kingdom Come” and is for those who desire to enter into a divine partnership with God and His purposes by joining the prayer revolution.

Charles Finney (1792-1875) is considered by many people to have been one of the greatest revivalists in American history. When Finney preached in a city, the entire region was powerfully impacted by the holy presence of God, which seemed to descend like a cloud. The tangible presence of God would be felt for miles around and multitudes of people would come to Jesus as if being drawn by a mysterious, magnetic force. Churches would be overwhelmed with new converts. Crime rates would plummet, and jails would empty because of the numbers of people who had come to Jesus. The moral nature of cities and regions would be impacted for decades to come because of the supernatural work that was done by the Holy Spirit through this man of God. Interestingly, approximately 80 percent of those people who came to Jesus in Finney’s meetings were still actively serving the Lord twenty-five years after their initial salvation experience16 – an extraordinary statistic.

The amazing revivals that followed the ministry of Charles Finney were much more than just the result of the eloquent preaching of this evangelist. There was an atmosphere that followed Charles Finney that reflected the holiness of God. When people encountered that atmosphere, their testimony was much the same as the prophet Isaiah who, encountering the holiness of God, cried out in despair, “Woe is me! for I am undone…” (Isaiah 6:5). People were stricken by the horrors of their sins and the deep offense that sin caused in the heart of God. A reverential fear of the Lord was experienced by many that caused them to turn to the Lord with true, heartfelt repentance, and they were never the same again.

Much has been written about the amazing ministry of Charles Finney, but very little is known about another man named Daniel Nash who was an associate of Finney. Very few people even knew that he existed. He was very quiet by nature and rarely, if ever, attended any of the revival meetings where Finney preached. Though he had been a pastor early in his life, he had been wounded by some church leaders who had fired him from his church thinking he was too old. He was forty-six at the time. This breaking of Nash’s heart was only a part of the preparation for a much greater work that God had prepared for him to do. Nash’s ministry was a ministry of prayer and intercession. Because of his hurt, he withdrew from public ministry but became a man of mighty prevailing prayer!

God brought Daniel Nash and Charles Finney together to form a team that was to be used by God in a most phenomenal way. Nash would precede Charles Finney’s arrival in a city for revival meetings. He would go to the city and check into a boarding house and begin praying for the meetings that were coming. Sometimes he wouldn’t come out of his room for days at a time as he devoted himself totally to intercession. Sometimes people reported hearing weeping and groaning coming from this man’s room as he prayed for the Holy Spirit’s power to be released and a mighty harvest to be reaped when Charles Finney came to preach.

Daniel Nash would pray for days before he felt that the work had been done in the spirit for the meetings to convene. Other times he would pray for three to four weeks in advance of Finney’s arrival, but he would not quit until he felt in his spirit that the preparation through intercession was complete. Nash prayed until he felt that the spiritual atmosphere had been prepared, and once he felt a release, he would send word to Charles Finney that the town was ready for him to come. Finney would follow, preach the Gospel, and the tidal floods of God’s holy, convicting, and saving glory would overwhelm the town and people would come to Jesus to be saved as a result.

The greatest moves of God in American history occurred during this season of time. Entire regions were changed as a result of Finney’s ministry. Historians point to those meetings as having such a profound impact upon people and societies that the effects could still be seen a century or more later! The powerful preaching of Charles Finney that saw hundreds of thousands of people saved would have never had the impact it did had it not been for the spiritual partnership with the intercessory ministry of Daniel Nash. It is interesting to note that only four months after Daniel Nash’s death, Charles Finney left the itinerate revival ministry to pastor a church. The powerful revivals that characterized his ministry and changed a nation began to wane.

Daniel Nash is buried in a simple grave in an obscure cemetery behind a farmer’s barn in upstate New York. It was lost in history for many decades. On his small, well-worn tombstone are these words: “Daniel Nash – Prayer minister for Charles Finney.” Though he was virtually unknown to the masses, God used Nash in a most profound way to birth the revivals of Charles Finney which touched multitudes. Surely, Daniel Nash enjoys the same fruit of reward as Charles Finney in Heaven today because of the role he played in intercession and prayer! I believe that there are many Daniel Nash’s in the earth today. They are known only to God (and maybe a few family members or friends). They may never write a book. They may never have a television program. They may never have a large public ministry that draws money, popularity, and acclaim of the masses, but their unseen labors in the spirit through intercessory prayer are resulting in the work of God moving forward in the earth. They may be strangers while here, but one day they will be champions in Heaven.

The next great move of God will come as a result of Prayer & Obedience by the body of Christ. Discover how God made us partners with Him for the fulfillment of His purposes in the earth."

Recent Prayer Requests & Prayer from Face Book Group Page

Face book Mom's Praying for the Generations Link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/momsprayingforthegenerations/

Starting the Most Recent:  (Just the past few days.)

I just wanted to give you all a much-needed update on my sister Niccole. You may remember that I requested prayer on her birthday, October 27th, as she has been a drug addict for years and has lost custody of both of her amazing children. Well, God has been working miracles in her life ever since then. She has been clean since a little before her birthday and He has placed amazing people in her life! Rehab facilities won't take her on, as she is also a brittle diabetic (since age 7), and they can't handle her medical issues (which she has TONS of), but she is in a 12-step program, goes to meetings every day, sometimes 2 a day, as well as being very active in a couple of different churches. She is sooo committed to the Lord and she amazes me every day! Thank you so much for your prayers, and as it is a daily struggle, please remember her in your prayers! I am going to suggest that she join our page, too:) Thank you Jesus!!
Daneille Snowden Rhonda Snowden-Imoo! Praise the Lord!!! That is awesome! Glory to God. To think too...her godly Aunt her prayed for her would be thrilled to hear this and she knows now to rejoicing around the Throne of God (Aunt Charlotte). God is faithful...thank the Lord for His Children who pray.
Lori Huffman Anderson Oh praise God that is awesome news thank u Jesus I will continue praying for her & her family!!
-----------

Asking you all to pray for the family of a young man named Seth. He tried to take his own life on Jan. 3rd, but survived. The dr's said he would most likely be blind, and at least partially paralyzed. There is much more to the story, but the sad end is this: last night the family decided to "pull the plug". Seth passed away last night.

Please keep his parents and siblings in your prayers. I cannot imagine what they must be going through. I have a few friends whose children/grandchildren have committed suicide. It is something they will never fully recover from.

Thanks for praying!
Daneille Snowden
Oh God! This is way to much and to hard for our hearts to handle, understand and fathom. We lift up Seth's family up to You. God, open their hearts to Your strength and comfort. Send Godly people their way to direct them to You fully. Heal
this family. We lift up young people today, God we pray in our own lives we reach out to them more and more. We bind the enemy for trying to deceive them into this destructive action. In the Name of Jesus we pray & agree! ~amen

Grandaughter Erin will be on the principal's list...which means she is on the honor role and doing well at school with her citizenship...thank you for praying for her...she is doing better at school...the teacher says it makes Erin feel secure whem I am in the classroom helping. Grandson Chaz still needs help and prayer....he is struggling and needs to be encouraged and not to see himself in a negative way. Thank you for your prayers...also his mom has a new boyfriend..not sure if he is a believer. I think it may be affecting Chaz as well.
Daneille Snowden Thank You Lord for this praise of Erin's success! Glory to God! We still lift up Chaz and his mommy; heal this family continually. We know You are definitely doing a great work. ~amen

Praying Together From the North, South, East & West

Praying for Blessings to come and Strong holds to come down from the North, South, East and West!
Presently, on our Mom's Praying for the Generations-via Face Book...we have mom's from all the way in California, way up in Michigan, Connecticut, North Carolina and Florida and all  in between.
We love our families don't we? Thank God for praying mama's too! This has and is creating a strong cohesive bond that is growing; not just in numbers but in POWER!
I feel led this week to call on God's rich blessing to come down all across this nation of ours. Starting from the North to the South and the East to the West. As we do let's all bind the strong-holds that are holding our families, our children, our husbands and yes mothers in terrible bondage's. There is power in the Blood of Jesus, power in His Name and His Word.
Pray sisters...join with me as we combine this particular prayer-focus!
Also, we are starting this week as a small group to come together to pray. The Lord laid certain individuals on my heart this week, inviting them to join me in praying for our families at my church (in an apartment we have). It is a humble start; but I am certain God is going to move and bless this. Ask the Lord if He wants you, to do the same. Then go...just call a handful of dear friends, have them meet at your house or church-God will open that door. We are bringing pictures of our family and going to pray over them.
If you will send me a testimony on what God has done. How He has led you. We would all love to hear about these victories; celebrating with you with all of heaven.
Ok....Let's expect as we pray!
1 John 5:14,15 "This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him."
2 Cor. 10:4 "The weapons of our warfare are not carnal (of a fleshly or earthly nature), but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds" .
Matthew 17:19,21 "Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why could we not cast him out? However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting" .

Mom's Praying for Mom's

Our amazing Lord has placed a burden in my heart to pray for MOM'S! For our girlfriends who are mothers, sisters, co-workers and even our own mothers.
Can we just join our hands together during this week and bind together in prayer for one another; as we are living out this AMAZING CALL on our lives? We all know, if we have been mothers for anytime, if mom doesn't feel well....the house isn't going to be well. That literally means- THE HOUSE, kids feeling the stress, order, meals and the list goes on and on; doesn't it?
Lately, I've been saying; "I wish I had a mommy taking care of me." Feeling a bit worn out; well to be honest greatly worn out. But, my vision is right before me. MY CHILDREN; I must live out a godly life before them. Are you like me sometimes...you just don't have it to give?
I want to pray for you (we all want to pray for you):
1-Health: let us know if you are facing health issues and just need a healing touch of God.
2-Emotional: Are you facing anything in your life right now that is wearing your down, hurts, disappointments, fears, ...etc.
3-Financial: I would say a great % of us can put a request here. Yet, we will agree with you for God's provision & direction to both lead and bless you.
4-Marital: Are you facing a difficult chapter in your lives? When the house is divided...it cannot stand. We will pray!
5-Spiritual: Needing a refreshing, renewing of the Spirit of God to flow through your inner most being? Salvation? More of God?
Let us know...He indeed is faithful!
Post your request in the comment here and even praise reports. We love to hear from you.
We are also on face book as well.
Matthew 11:28
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

PROMISE SCRIPTURES... concerning your children

 THIS IS ...
For our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and on....standing in the Gap...interceding for them all-that my friend; is our APPOINTMENT from God as mothers!
My heart is being filled with the Spirit of God stirring me to PRAY like I have never prayed before. I am being drawn by God to cry out for my children; for their hearts to be His ALL the days of their lives.
Through the years I have seen several children who have been raised in godly homes...move on and then out of a personal walk with God and into a life of depravity and despair. In addition, mom's who feel as if they have failed as Shepherds of their little flock.
On my face book page I messaged some friends who I know have a solid walk with the Lord. I asked them to share with me the promises God has given to them (from His Word) for their children. Allow me to share with you some of their responses.
I do ask that you add on your prayers, your promises.
Do you have a prayer requests....we will agree together and lift you up.
Bear with me, I am not a computer geek---we all will do what we can to spread the word to one another to pray.
Thank you...and Lord bless!   Daneille Snowden

  • Paula Foster Young I have to pray without ceasing, for my children anyway! Lol! I do pray, and have learned to step back and let God be God in their own lives !
I have to trust that the Holy Spirit will truly be their guidance with encouragement from their God given parents! Destiny has been entrusted to the Holy Spirit, as she ventures out to New horizons and destinations beyond our presence. It is much prayer on my part that she will be led to make wise and Godly choices!

    • Kelly Zumbahlen  Jeremiah 29:11 God has plans for my children. Plans to prosper them and give them a future. Plans to give them hope and not harm. I know this is not word for word, but you get the idea. :) Trusting God in all situations of life is what He wants us to do. As my children draw closer and closer to that flying from the nest, I pray that they find that personal relationship with God that will be intimate and real! My children are 13,12,11 (almost), and 9 (almost). I do not pray over my kiddos at bedtime any more, but pray for them throughout the day and anytime. I pray over them in my prayer times and when they are in need. I pray for them when they are hurting and let them hear me. God is so good!

      • Yesterday
Linda J. Marchini    Linda J. Marchini
        • My children are all grown and out of the house. I pray many scriptures over them but the one I seem to use frequently is from the Lord's prayer---Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. I constantly ask that God's will be done in their lives and His kingdom principles rule over them.

          • My kids are all grown. I know (I hope) I raised them as best I could. I pray for all 4 of them. Three of them I believe are either away from the Lord or walking away from Him. I pray for them seems like all day, everyday.

            • Ginger Payne Sharp Cool idea Daneille! The scripture I have prayed over my children since they were very young is Isaiah 54:13 " And your sons will be taught by the Lord and great will be your children's peace." God gave me this scripture when my children were small and when I, as a mom felt insecure about the huge responsibility of raising children who would grow to serve God. As parents. it is so important to teach our kids about God. It is even more important to teach them to recognize that God is the ultimate teacher, and that if they will learn to be taught by him, there will be no end to their peace. This is also a good scripture to claim over them as they grow and our direct influence over them diminishes. We can pray and thank God that he is teaching them even at times when we may not see obvious evidence of this.

              • Shelley Noonan Thanks Daneille! The website for moms of tweenage daughters is called B'twixt and B'tween you can find it athttp://btwixtandbtweenblog.com/wordpress We have online classes for moms and daughters going through Beautiful Girlhood starting in September!
The best book I have found for my adult children, was given to me by my future daughter in law for mothers day. It is The Power of A Praying Parent by Stormie OMartian. The one I am going through right now is Praying for Your Adult Children. Plum full of scripture and godly wisdom. Praying the scripture for your children is powerful and effective...just like God's word.

Ann Blue Haney I plead the blood over my children daily and I believe as in Bible times it protects my children from danger. Often times I have put scriptures under their mattresses for areas I knew they were challenged in, I have anointed the doorways to their rooms at night and each and every night I give them a kiss goodnight and pray as a group. I do this know matter what their age, when my 23 year old stays the weekend, as he does.
                  • I give him a kiss goodnight and pray over him as well. When he has a life challenge he always calls mom for prayer. A laid foundation will never fall apart.
                  • God has given me direction for all my children, but probably the most important thing God has ever told me (I now understand) is this--"the prayers you prayed for me to help your child love me and accomplish my goal for his life can only be reached when I tell you it is my turn to take over the training. I love him more than you do and can lead him better than you can. You have accomplished the purpose I called you to now let me take over ". I now understand the importance of this word God gave me, even though at the time I did not think my child was ready. I have seen him grow closer to me and to God and God's will for his life. He understands now more than ever the importance of seeking God. I thank God for helping me let go and let him be in control.

                    • Ulonda Allen  As a mother of 10 children, my prayers vary in so many different ways an I believe all of Gods promises for my children, but the one most important to me is a WORD that gave me, in His word, while earnestly seeking for direction in my life is Isaiah 54:13 "and all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children". No matter where my children are in their walk with the Lord, I stand on God's Word and know that it will NOT return void but will accomplish what He says it will. My children and my husband are the very reason I exist, outside of God. I will always stand in the gap for them!!

                      • Fannie Kaveny  The one scripture I use is Jeremiah 31 16-17
(mom of 2 biological & 2 adopted) scripture: Jeremiah 31 16-17 "Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.

                        • Vicky McIntosh Stankus I have the book "The Power of a Praying Parent" by Stormie Omartian. I have read through it in the past, but it has sort of gone by the wayside. This conversation is motivating me to get back into it again. I do pray for my children but, lately, its only been popcorn prayers about their safety and about their walk with the Lord. These are good, but I would like to do more. I see it as vital, due to some circumstances that have arrised in the last few weeks. A blog on this topic is a great idea.

                          Sherry Kellinky
I just wanted to share this scripture that someone prayed over me several years ago." For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants." Isaiah 44:3. I believe this for my children and the future generations to come. I would love for you to share this scripture. I pray this will be a encouragement to many others as well. Sherry.
